Sheduled Mowing

Beginning in early April and continuing through November with approximately 26 - 34 mows, A Cut Above will maintain the ideal lawn height of 2 ¾” to 4” and condition of your lawn. To insure a high quality cut, all mower blades will be sharpened on a regular basis. The homeowner will need to remove any and all objects such as hoses, tools and toys from the turf areas. A Cut Above will not be responsible for damage to items left out. Turf areas will be mowed with walk behind mowers and tractors. Due to weather, the regularity of mowing will vary each month. The following demonstrates A Cut Above’s schedule:

April – June: Every 7 to 10 days between each mow

July – August: 7 to 14 Days (due to a drier climate and slower grass growth)

September - October: 7 to 10 Days between each mow

November: 7 to 14 Days (Less mowing required at the end of the season)

Trimming/Edging/Bagging/Blowing

Trimming

Along with regular mowing, A Cut Above will trim around hard to reach areas that the mower cannot reach, in order to keep your lawn looking sharp and well groomed. Those areas include all flower beds, fence lines, sidewalks, walls and trees.

Edging

In conjunction with every mowing session during the growing season, A Cut Above will edge all sidewalks, curbs, driveways and walkways. All debris from edging will be blown clean from all affected concrete/asphalt surfaces.

Bagging

Upon request, A Cut Above will bag the grass clippings that are not recycled back into your lawn at an additional cost. The bags will be left on the curb for weekly trash pick-up.

Blowing

All of the grass clippings that are not recycled back into your lawn for nutrients will be blown off of the driveway, patio, sidewalk, curb and walkways.

A Cut Above offers a seasonal treatment contract, beginning in April and continuing through November as weather permits. The following plan is designed to maintain your lawn and establish a well-balanced cycle of treatments. The following describes services the homeowner will receive on a month to month itinerary:

Early Spring ApplicationLate February – Early April

  • Cold Weather specific fertilization that contains slow release nitrogen to maintain color.
  • Pre-emergent crab grass control.
Late Spring ApplicationMiddle of April – Early May

  • Weed Control
  • Pre-emergent application
Mid Summer ApplicationBeginning mid May through late June

  • Fertilizer application containing high potassium and slow-release nitrogen to maintain a healthy lawn through the hot summer season.
  • Broadleaf weed controls
Late Summer/Early Fall Application late July through early September

  • A moderate fertilizer with low potassium for maximum disease resistance.
  • Broadleaf weed controls.
  • Possible thatch accumulation observation.
Fall Application Late September through November

  • Heavy rate fertilizer application to winterize the lawn.
Optional Services:

Aerating & over seeding: Aerating allows oxygen and water into the root system.  Over seeding thickens the lawn and establishes a plush ground before winter.

De-thatching: Allows sunlight and oxygen to reach the root of the grass without interference. Thatch will be removed from the property.

Top Dressing: A thin layer of compost soil with ¼” - ½” in depth. Compost soil is a richer organic product that helps get the seed installed during aerating and over seeding to grow.

Flowerbed Maintenance & Curb Control

A Cut Above will hand weed all flowerbeds and spray weeds from curbs, sidewalks and driveways. An application of herbicide will eliminate weeds that typically pop up through the cracks in concrete. Unless otherwise instructed, the debris will be bagged and left on the curb for trash pick-up

Tree & Shrub Trimming

Shrubbery and hedges will be sheared two times per year to permit proper growth habits and smooth appearance. All debris resulting from shearing will be removed including the removal of any dead or damaged shrubbery. Unless otherwise instructed, the debris will be bagged and left on the curb for trash pick-up.

Tree liming and pruning will include removal of crossing branches, or those consistent with standard form. For good light penetration and air circulation, dead or diseased branches will be thinned. Pruning of low hanging branches will be performed during A Cut Above’s regular visits. Pruning of branches 10 feet or more above the ground will be considered an additional service.

Flourishing Botanical Preservation

A Cut Above offers installation of fresh flowers three times a year. First in the spring, second during the summer, and lastly in the fall. The flowers that are planted during the three seasons are scheduled in coordination with the weather. Therefore, during the spring, pansy flowers will be installed in various colors. During the summer marigolds, petunias, begonias and impatiens are planted.  During the fall, pansy and/or mums are installed. Not only does this package provide beautiful flowers, but it also changes the look of the property every few months. Flower type requests will be noted but will not be guaranteed pending on flower availability.

Leaf Removal

Leaves will be removed twice during the fall and winter seasons. Additional visits are an option at the homeowner’s discretion. The cost is determined by the number of hours and how long it takes to complete the leaf removal. There is a two-hour minimum per visit. A Cut Above will dispose of the leaves for no additional cost.  However, when available, all leaves and other organic debris will be blown into surrounding wooded areas.  In addition to the positive environmental impact, this benefits the homeowner by reducing trash costs.

Billing Information

Each of the items selected by the homeowner will require an estimate to accurately price the service. Once the estimate has been completed, all of the prices will be tallied to form a grand total. This total will be divided by the number of months for the season (March – November = 9 months). This will equal the total amount paid for each month. In the event a new client is signed on during the middle of the season, costs will be prorated according to remaining months of the contract.

* One time services will require a 50% down payment and will be billed for the remaining balance upon completion of project.

To help increase customer convenience and to eliminate unnecessary stamp costs, A Cut Above offers automatic billing for each month (If you would like automatic billing and have not already signed up, please contact our office). Payments can also be made through our secure website on a monthly basis. Primarily, all invoices will be emailed to the address provided. If the client does not have access to email, the invoice will be sent through the United States Postal Service.
